There it is...a small curse broken?

DCU 4, CD Olimpia 1

*Two insanely pretty goals from Christian Gomez.....me like.
*Another nice backheel flick from newcomer (and former CD Olimpian) Luciano Emilio
*A Facundo Erpen header. I still think he is a cancer to that backline. Too shaky. Yes, he makes good runs and good plays occasionally, but as you saw for 20-30 minutes of that game he played like US vs the Czech Republic.
*Did anyone else see how nervous Jamil Walker was?
*THE FIELD. It was a basketball court. That was ridiculous.

The clincher is that DC should be through to the next round, breaking the 5-6 year curse of terrible performances against Americas opponents. The funny thing is though that despite the nice DC goals, the result really could have flip-flopped. It looked shaky there for a while.

TOMORROW:
I will have a recap of Lyon vs. Roma from a Lyon citizen's perspective. My sister, Brittany, has been following them (cultishly (?) I might add. So much so that her and her friends have been to Fred Chaves' apartment on the outskirts of town. She has given us insight into what the game was like, the fans, the thoughts on the 0-0 draw, and some Lyonnais chants to make us all happy. Thank you Brittany.
