A Day's Worth

As I post this:

US Open Cup Qualifier
Red Bull New York vs. Los Angeles
Home Depot Center

This could be the debut of RBNY's new striker Juan Pablo Angel. He is on the roster and will most likely make his appearance in the second half, if at all. If not, we shall see him this Sunday, 3pm, against Colorado. The winner of this will find itself taking part in the Looking at the starting lineups, it will be interesting to see how Cronin and Conway both do as they get spotty starts here and there.

Other news:

- Freddy Adu hit in the head with a golf ball playing golf with Real Salt Lake teammates. Maybe it will make him play better. He is okay though and I am sure we'll see the real Freddy some point soon.

- Roberto Mina is out injured still for four more weeks after electing to get knee surgery. Not great news for the Hoops. Jimmy Conrad, the Kansas City bruiser, suffered a fractured jaw in the 1-0 win over Columbus this past weekend. Somehow, he will only miss a week.

- In England, despite relegation, Watford's manager Adrian 'Adi' Boothroyd will keep his job and has had his contract extended three years. Watford is on its' way to finish dead last in the Premiership with only 5 wins this year.

- Here is a article at Yanks Abroad on the recovery of Bobby Convey, our favorite Reading winger.

- One of "Because I Think...'s" most promising young'uns, Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev has suffered a massive six month setback thanks to extensive knee ligament damage.

- Fulham is targeting for the offseason a loan deal for South Korean star Lee Chun-Soo who now plies his trade for Ulsan Hyundai.

- Ajax looks poised to land FC Twente Swedish midfielder Kennedy Bakircioglu. Long-awaited to find and develop his potential, Kennedy has connected in the Eredivisie this year for 15 goals and 11 assists.

- The resignation of Sam Allardyce from Bolton looks to pay early dividends for Sam. The opening at Newcastle United [after Roeder's resignation] is his most logical destination.
