10 Bright Spots of Week One

1. Toronto FC: I know you all wanted to open with a win, but congratulations on getting out of the gate. Once Welsh and Robinson become accustomed, TFC could be scary.

2. Dane Richards: The ranting and raving about Dane was all justified, my candidate for Rookie of the Year (unless RSL puts Chris Seitz in goal)
3. Brad Guzan: Between Tim Howard and Brad Guzan and the other damn-good goalkeepers in America I think we have to start a loan exchange program so some people like Perkins and Pickens can gets some national team time.
4. FSC Commentator: When the starting line-ups were supposed to show up on the screen during the TFC/Chivas USA game, they didn’t and he stood their smiling at people off camera, checking his teeth, looking behind him, and pointing at the screen. Class.
5. The Rapids and the Rapids Girls: the Rapids opened with a well-deserved win in a new park under crappy conditions, but conditions in which they will be the king; look for a solid home record out of the rapids this year, the Rapids Girls were standing and smiling in 20 degree weather in my skivvies is not my idea of fun but a pretty good idea of dedication; poor girls

6. Jeff Cunningham: this guys looks like a 20 year old out there, fast, with vision, and always with poise to put the ball in the back of the net, without injury he will score at least 15 this year

7. Claudio Reyna: he looked pretty damn excited to be out there and also didn’t act his age, I really hope he can play more than 7-8 games this year, he really makes the Red Bulls a different team though

8. Wells Thompson: people saw him as a mistake draft pick for New England and not many realized that when Steve Nicol picks in the draft he rarely goes wrong, Wells had a good showing among other rookies: Robbie Findley, Toronto’s Canizalez, Andrew Boyens,
9. Roberto Brown: I didn’t think this guy would be that big, along with the threat of Herculez Gomez and Nico Hernandez this Panamanian could score 10 or more for Colorado
10. Kasali Yinka Casal: the Fulham reserve phenom showed his colors against Colorado acting as the catalyst for DC’s lone goal; kind of reminded (very vaguely) of Andres Guardado on the left side during Mexico’s 2-0 loss to the US, vaguely I said
