10 Bright Spots of Week Two

1. Rookie Standouts: Adam Cristman, Dane Richards, Robbie Findley, Michael Harrington all had fantastic outings this past weekend; after two games, this draft class looks to contribute effectively

2. Clint Mathis: everything seemed to fall into place for him, the truth is, will this happen every game? I want the old Mathis, the ‘make somethin’ out of nothing’ Mathis.

3. Steve Ralston: this guy keeps on chugging and extends his assist record to 109

4. Andy Gruenebaum: US goalkeeping as a whole is really on the rise and getting close to world class, this guy’s stock is on the rise as well after two clean sheets against two potent offenses

5. DP Signing Rumors: Chivas USA is now linked heavily to Zinedine Zidane, Reinaldo Navia; RBNY to Juan Pablo Angel, Marcelo Salas, Diego Tristan; Columbus for Guillermo Barros Schelloto, the list goes on and the suspense is killing me

6. Herculez Gomez’s goal celebration: looks like Colorado has discovered their personality for the season; was he this loud in Los Angeles? He also made that kid's day.

7. Luciano Emilio: DC’s new signing from CD Olimpia (hard to believe considering he’s already got 6 goals aleady) has taken on a Mamadou Diallo/Raul Diaz Arce/Roy Lassiter scoring ability…problem is, can he acquire the Diaz Arce consistency spanning several years

8. Shalrie Joseph: even with the problems surrounding his possible exit, it was hard to hate him on the field during the 4-0 win over Toronto FC; either that or Toronto just made him look good…

9. Carl Robinson: granted he was a Premier League player and is a Welsh international, Robinson was the only real bright spot for Toronto, my New Mexico sleeper for best rookie defender, Andrew Boyens, took a nose dive and played terribly…

10. The “8,000”: those that even showed up to the RBNY/FCD game are dedicated and/or frugal sons of bitches, those conditions were ridiculous – you could see everyone huddled under the overhang, but 8,000??? I don’t know.

P.S. - Guillermo Barros Schelloto and Juan Pablo Angel will be the next DP signings to grace our little league we got goin' here in the states...their signings will be announced TODAY (Tuesday, April 17th). Welcome aboard.

P.P.S. - It's hard to say, but I think I might now be a converted Bulls fan.
